Here’s the thing: your website has the potential to be so much more than a digital placeholder. It can work for you 24/7, bringing in sales while you’re busy with the rest of your life.

But that’s not going to happen if your site is not set up to succeed. Whether you’re selling products, services, or something else entirely, your website can’t sell anything if people don’t know what you’re offering—or if the process is too complicated.

So today, I’m going to walk you through how to set up your website to actually start making you money.

But first we need to have a serious heart to heart conversation. The point of this video is NOT to make you think you have to go create a new product to sell so you can monetize your website.

I remember when I was first creating my Designing the Row brand. I looked to other successful entrepreneurs I admired and thought I also needed to design and sell mugs and little tote bags because that’s what they were doing. Then I started and grew a Facebook group to thousands of members across the world and tried to monetize it through physical merch products, digital downloads, and even a monthly subscription offer.

The thing is, successful monetization doesn’t come from offering random products or services.

Learn from my mistakes! Don’t sell for the sake of selling. Be intentional!

If you want to make more money through your website you need to get serious with yourself about why your business truly exists!! You know, I should’ve asked myself — does a website designer need to sell mugs? Is that the way to more money? Absolutely not.
